Today’s word of the day…toiling. Many of you are probably VERY familiar with this word. And that’s what we will be doing today, Tuesday, April 8, 2025 so we will not be airing our regular What’s the Story?/Book Hound show at 3 p.m. Pacific.
I will, however, share a little story with you in lieu of our show. It’s from the book, 1144 Random, Interesting and Fun Facts You Need to Know. This is a story about a bear named Wojtek that fought in the Polish Army during World War II. His name meant “he who enjoys war” (or happy warrior according to Wikipedia). The bear carried shells to the front line and was taught to salute; he became a mascot for the soldiers and even developed a habit for drinking beer and smoking cigarettes. He survived the war and lived the rest of his life in the Edinburgh Zoo. Quite a story, don’t you think? This might cover our segment, “You Can’t Make This Stuff Up” that Doug enjoys doing and probably also our Book Blitz!
We will be back next week at our regular time, 3-5 p.m. Pacific, Tuesdays or you can listen on 93.7 FM Talk in northern Nevada at 7 p.m. Pacific on Tuesdays.
Hope you enjoyed the books we shared last week. Let us know what you are reading or your favorite book or author. Leave it in the comments or message me here on Substack.
See you next week!
